History of Nanidevima

According to our forefathers, Shree Nanidevima Mandir was built in 1751.

They were members of the sea farming community. At that time one of them saw Shree Nanidevima in his dream and was told to build a temple. As a result the temple was built and Shree Nanidevima was accepted as “KUL DEVI” of Onjal village.

Nanidevima’s poojari was ‘tested’ by the British Officer and was approved to serve the devima. Villagers of Onjal recall that whenever someone had difficulty he or she will strike a ‘dish’ placed in the temple and the poojari will reach there very shortly. Devima’s power was manifested through them. The temple was renovated in 1992 and at present it is run by Shree Nanidevima Mandir Committee.
